The Truth about Your Options to Overcome Infertility

In my research recently I found some startling statistics about infertility, infertility drugs, success rates of infertility clinics and specialists…and then also, some delightful stories of hope for those who might want to take a more natural path to overcome infertility. Although I often choose to look on the bright side of things and try to stay positive I couldn’t help but become overwhelmed with anger and fear for women and couples who are willing to go through so much to have a baby…to put it lightly.

You see, in an attempt to try to put some hard numbers into my research I tried to find out the statistics showing the success rates of various modern medical infertility treatments. What I found instead was a lot of information on why any statistics may not be accurate. Infertility clinics and specialist say that it is difficult to get an accurate measurement of their success rate because many women have many different issues that can affect the effectiveness of different infertility treatments…and then they might show success rates around the 40-50% range…while discounting women over the age of 42 and women who might unknowingly never be able to physically become pregnant….and on and on and on

I found it very funny that the author of a new book on natural and holistic cures for infertility was exactly 42 years old when she became pregnant after being told that she would never be able to have a child. This woman is Lisa Olson and it has been her life’s work to first have children and then secondly, share with other women how she became pregnant after being told by the medical community that this would never happen for her. Luckily for all involved….for her, her family and for even you, this simply wasn’t the case and Ms, Olson just wouldn’t give up.

What Lisa did was research infertility and natural cures for infertility using Chinese medicine and also looked into the business of infertility specialists and clinics to find out the truth about some of these treatments. What she found was shocking and quite damning. I can’t say much more here but let me ask you how much sense it makes to try to force the human body to do what you want with chemicals and drugs that have been shown to damage the organs that are necessary for reproduction when you are trying to get pregnant? I am sorry but this just doesn’t make sense to me. In my mind it is much like treating a man with ED with a pharmaceutical instead of trying to find out what the underlying issue might be…or depression with a pill instead attempting to uncover the underlying cause. Yes, modern medicine has it’s place but at what cost have we all turned to the pharmaceutical companies for a “quick fix”?

Now comes the issue of cost. The typical round of IVF will run you around ten thousand dollars. Chances are that any clinic that is telling you anything cheaper will wind up getting you on the back end with additional fees and nickel and dime you to death. I am sorry…this is the truth and you can expect to pay between $10000 and $15000 for a course of IVF treatment with no guarantee that you will become pregnant. No money back if you are not satisfied. No money back if you have a bad reaction to the drugs. No kiss and no promise that you will become pregnant ever. You might be given odds and be told that there is a good chance that given your young age and the fact that you are physically fit that you could become pregnant in the first month, but nobody can promise you that. Ask Lisa Olson how old she was when she was told she simply couldn’t get pregnant….

The scary thing to me is that most health care practitioners will suggest a course of treatment almost matter of factly after giving you the typical warning about a drug’s side effects without giving much thought to what has actually worked for others. Yes, what has been remarkably successful for not only those that have had no success getting pregnant on their own but for women who have been told by fertility specialist that they might never be able to conceive. Doesn’t that speak volumes to you? Shouldn’t THIS be the primary course of treatment given that it is totally non-invasive and holistic and natural in nature?

The choice is up to you. You can follow the path and procedures practiced by fertility specialist and fertility clinics thinly veiled with “natural practices” first….or try the path that has worked for many that have not had success with “specialists”…and save yourself the cost of a new car. The choice is up to you…but often common sense makes more sense than the advice given by some very learned people.
